NC State Extension "this plant in moderately resistant to damage from deer. It is a host plant for the Brown Elfin butterfly. Adult butterflies nectar from the blooms. Its fruits are eaten by songbirds, small mammals, ruffed grouse, wild turkeys and black bears. |
